The construction of GO!Durban (the City’s new Integrated Rapid Public Transport Network) through New Germany has progressed to a point where the newly constructed road needs to tie in to the existing roads. This will necessitate deviations at certain roads and intersections.

Berkshire Drive, in New Germany will not be accessible via Qashana Khuzwayo Rd from 30 March 2016 until 30 April 2016.

Alternative access between Berkshire Drive and Qashana Khuzwayo Road can be made as follows:

– Heading East and West on Qashana Khuzwayo Rd towards Berkshire Rd will be via Regent St and Sander Road.

– Access to Qashana Khuzwayo Road from Berkshire Drive will be via Sander Road to Coventry Ave or Regent St. 

Commuters, residents and business owners in the Qashana Khuzawyo Road area in Pinetown/ New Germany are advised of that a new 1 metre wide trench is being excavated along Qashana Khuzwayo Rd from Regent Street to Blasé Road.

Existing essential services (such water, electricity, fibre optic cables, sewage etc) currently run under the future GO!Durban dedicated bus lane, and in an attempt to remove all live services from under this lane, a new set of services will be laid along this route in this excavation.

A trench will be excavated along the length of the North side of the parking area between Blasé Road and Regent Street next to the newly constructed road edge and Loffelstein wall.

The contractor will endeavour to minimize the impact of this work on the parking areas in the vicinity. Public are advised to use the West side parking area (from KFC to the BP Garage), if parking is congested from Regent Street to Blase Road.

This excavation work is expected to last two months.

Commuters, residents and business owners in the KwaMashu/Phoenix area are advised of road deviations that will come into effect from 7 March until 3 June 2016, as part of the construction of GO!Durban – the City’s Integrated Rapid Public Transport Network (IRPTN).

WBHO / Inanda JV has been appointed for the construction of a portion of IRPTN Route called C3 which runs from Bridge City in KwaMashu to Pinetown CBD.  The particular section the contractor is working on is approximately 3.6km long and extends along the M25 from Bridge City in the north to the MR577 / M25 intersection. Included in the scope of works is the construction of a new crossing at the intersection of Bridge City Boulevard and Nkunzana Road.

Traffic will be diverted as follows:

– The intersection of Bridge City Boulevard and Nkunzana Road will be closed to traffic.

– Traffic from the M25 highway or Inanda headed in the direction of KwaMashu / Magistrate’s Court / Bridge City Mall North entrance will be diverted along Bhejane Street.

– Traffic from KwaMashu headed in the direction of the M25 Highway / Inanda will be diverted along Nkunzana Road.

– Traffic from Phoenix Industrial Park (via Phoenix Bridge) headed in the direction of Bridge City Mall / M25 Highway / Inanda will be diverted onto Bhejane Street and/or Nkunzana Road.
